We are WPRC
Wisconsin Precision Rifle Challenge

Our Story
Founded in 2016, the Wisconsin Precision Rifle Challenge (WPRC) began as a small community of shooters competing in non-sanctioned precision rifle matches. As interest in the sport grew, so did the WPRC community. In 2018, WPRC established its primary venue at Highlands Sportsmen’s Club in Cascade, WI, providing enhanced opportunities for longer-distance shooting and the incorporation of unique, challenging props.
In 2019, WPRC proudly hosted the inaugural Wisconsin Barrel Maker Classic, a two-day PRS-sanctioned Pro Series Match. This flagship event highlighted Wisconsin's rich precision rifle industry, showcasing the expertise and craftsmanship of seven barrel makers and other industry supporters from the region.
As of 2023, all WPRC matches are now held at Columbus Sportsmans Association in Columbus, Wisconsin. This partnership offers a premier venue for precision rifle matches, supporting the growing needs of the WPRC community and enabling even more dynamic and challenging competitions.
Leadership of WPRC transitioned in 2023 to Rick Kutcher, who continues to guide the group with a focus on growth and community. Rick succeeded Ken and Missy Wheeler, who were instrumental in unifying “Team Wisconsin” and bringing the Great Lakes region to the forefront of precision shooting. Their efforts laid a strong foundation for WPRC’s future and helped shape the vibrant and inclusive community it is today.
At its core, WPRC is about community and growth. We’re dedicated to fostering an environment where shooters of all skill levels can succeed. Whether you’re a new shooter who needs to borrow equipment or a seasoned competitor looking to secure your first win, the WPRC team and its members are here to help you excel.
If you're curious about precision rifle shooting or considering joining us, we invite you to connect with WPRC. We believe you'll discover not only an incredible sport but also one of the most supportive and inspiring communities around.
Come out, get to know us, and experience Team Wisconsin for yourself!

The Team
Founded by John Chitko in 2016, WPRC initially held matches at Racine County Line Gun Club. In 2018, Ken Wheeler took over leadership and, with his wife Missy, expanded the club into one of the nation's largest. They regularly hosted over 100 shooters at the Highlands Sportsmans Club near Cascade, WI, until 2023.
That year, Ken passed ownership to me, Rick. Today, WPRC is supported by a dedicated leadership team:
-
Rick Kutcher leads with vision and guidance, ensuring the continued growth and success of WPRC.
-
Chris Gobeli provides invaluable technical and data support, keeping operations efficient and precise.
-
Brian Cisar, as Match Director, ensures each competition is meticulously planned and executed, offering challenging yet rewarding matches for all participants.
Brian Cisar (Match Director), Chris Gobeli (Admin), and I strive to continue the legacy built by John, Ken, and Missy. In 2024, we averaged around 100 shooters per match and welcomed over 250 unique participants. WPRC matches are currently held at Columbus Sportsmans Association near Columbus, WI.
